I did a quick test to see my typing speeds. For comparison, I can type 60 words per minute using the usual QWERTY keyboard. As of today, I can type 16 wpm on the Dvorak. It's amazing how much you can get done when you really like what you're doing. I spent a solid 8 hours coding in SQL. The amazing thing is, I was able to produce an application that we asked IT to develop last year. They said it would take 6 months and cost over $200,000. He was installing a Kodak photo program and got the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)  on every reboot. After booting from the Windows XP install disk, we copied the DEFAULT, SAM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE, and SYSTEM files from c:\windows\repair to c:\windows\system32\config. I compiled about 20 pictures of London using Picassa and put them on my flash drive. Karl uploaded about 30 pictures to Google's Web Albums using Picassa. Then after the Thanksgiving meal, I easily upload my pictures to his album and we used somebody's wireless laptop to display a slideshow through S-video to the TV. I think I can officially say that I have no jet lag. I think staying on the roughly same sleeping schedule (+/- 4 hours) sure helped. It seems that this situation has received attention at other levels of my company and of the CAS office. I called the head of admissions and told him my story. He said it was unfortunate that somehow my application literally got lost in the mail. He also said that the registration deadline was March 15 and they don't give exceptions to that rule. I find this incredibly ridiculous. I can see having a deadline so they don't have applications coming in at the last second.
